Tuscan villa for a trip to Montalcino
With its hilltop location, Montalcino is within easy reach from Siena and Florence - both less than an hour's drive away.
While it only has a population of just over 5,000, according to ABC Tuscany, there is a great deal to explore for people staying in a Tuscany villa during their holiday.
Montalcino has a rich history with architecture and culture to match. A castle on the hilltop and a walled old town are just two of the areas to explore during a Tuscany holiday in the area.
The town is also surrounded by olive groves and Brunello vineyards, which is ideal for wine lovers who might want to pick up a bottle of red to enjoy during their stay in a Tuscany villa.
October seems to be a particularly good time to visit Montalcino, when the town hosts its annual Montalcino Sagra del Tordo.
The festival features all sorts of fun and entertainment for the whole family, including costume parades, archery and a variety of local delicacies to enjoy.
