Travellers able to see the Virgin's girdle on Tuscany holiday
A ceremony full of religious tradition and excitement takes place in the town in September as well as Christmas when the Virgin Mary's girdle is brought out.
Medieval drums greet the religious symbol as it is shown to the crowd in the piazza and those taking a Tuscany holiday can see the relic as it is removed from the Pulpit of the Sacred Girdle and displayed.
The story of the girdle is told in the chapel in the form of a fresco by Agnolo Gaddi and holiday makers can learn about the religious history behind the artefact.
Also a symbol for the textile industry, the girdle was important in the Middle Ages because important objects were hung on the girdle.
Taking a Tuscany villa holiday will also give families the chance to enjoy some time by a private villa pool as well as long country walks and tasty food.
