Stay in a Tuscany villa for a trip to Santa Croce

The Basilica di Santa Croce (Holy Cross) is home to some of Italy's most famous sons, including astronomer Galileo Galilei, artist Michelangelo, composer Rossini, writer Machiavelli and a memorial to poet Dante.

Renting out a family villa in Tuscany, close to Florence, will provide easy access to the city and stunning views of the surrounding Tuscan hills.

Located in the Piazza Santa Croce, in the heart of the historic Italian city, the Santa Croce was rebuilt in 1294 by Arnolfo di Cambio and has a delicate polychrome marble facade, added in the 19th century.

The historic church has 16 chapels, many decorated with elaborate frescoes by Giotto and his pupils, and artwork by Donatello, Antonio Canova, Agnolo Gaddi, Giovanni da Milano, Henry Moore and Santi di Tito, among others.

A cheap villa in Tuscany provides a relaxing place to spend a holiday, with access to the region's fine restaurants, breathtaking countryside, sunshine, cultural attractions, pretty towns and famous cities.
