See a 'treasure trove' reopened on a Tuscany holiday
The Stefano Bardini Museum, once the home of the painter, restorer and art collector of the same name, has recently welcomed its first visitors after being shut for two decades of extensive restoration.
Located in a splendid neo-Renaissance style palazzo, the museum contains more than 2,000 artworks, many of which were part of Bardini's personal collection.
The Florentine newspaper reported: "The vast collection includes sculptures, paintings, tapestries and artisan objects from ancient Rome to the 18th century, in addition to a priceless collection of ancient shoes, ceramics, rugs and nuptial cases."
Tuscany has long been a hotspot for culture vultures looking for villa holidays. As well as the world-famous cities of Florence and Pisa, the region is famous for its stunning coasts and incredible cuisine.
