Puccini Festival brings glamour to Tuscany holiday

Taking place in Torre del Lago, the Puccini Festival welcomes nearly 40,000 spectators to its open-air theatre each year.

Giacomo Puccini lived and worked in the area composing operas and holiday makers now have the opportunity to come and experience the region where the famous composer once lived.

Most shows kick off in the early evening and finish in the dark in the site that is situated on the shores of Lake Massaciuccoli.

Music, history and art are all celebrated in the area that inspired much of his work.

Puccini died in 1924 and was first buried in Milan but since then his remains have been moved to Tuscany where they rest in a small chapel in the Puccinis' family villa in Torre del Lago.

As well as brilliant cultural events a family villa holiday to Tuscany also offers a great chance to enjoy long walks, local food and beautiful weather.
