Pazzi tour a 'dramatic story' for a Florence villa holiday

In 1478, a rich family from the area named the Pazzi attempted to overthrow its leaders and take control of Florence. Although they failed, a number of sites still stand to remind tourists of the plot.

The Florentine suggests visiting them, commenting: "Reading about this failed plot is fascinating, but visiting the relevant sites pulls us deeper into the story and gives us a fresh view of the city."

It comments that tourists should start at the Palazzo Medici-Riccardi, the site of the planned attack, following its route before finishing at the Castello del Trebbio, where the plotters once sat.

The castle also has wine tasting facilities for those in need of refreshment.

Anyone interested in a Florence villa holiday close to the Pazzi tour area, could stay in Vinci, the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci.

It is home to the Leonardo museum and is known for its beauty and charm, as well as the friendliness of its villagers.
