Open-air dance on a Tuscany villa holiday

Events guide What's On When reports that the Florence Dance Festival, taking place between June and July 2008 in the capital, welcomes performances from high-calibre, international companies.

On this year's prestigious programme is the New York City Ballet, the world-renowned US company pioneered in the 1930s by George Balanchine and Lincoln Kirstein

Dance companies Flamenco Lunares and the Florence Dance Company also feature in the 2008 timetable.

Some of the world's best dancers will entertain those on Tuscany villa holidays in some of Florence's most captivating outdoor venues, such as Forte Belvedere, Piazzale Michelangelo and the Boboli Garden.

With the typical concert costing between €15 (£12) and €30, the guide notes that concessions are available and concerts tend to start from 21:00 local time, lasting late into those magical Italian nights.
