Leonardo da Vinci: Tuscany
Holidaymakers visiting the town of Vinci may want to take a short trip (about three kilometres) from the town to Anchiano, and the visit the house of a master.
Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452, in Anchiano, as the illegitimate son of Ser Piero da Vinci, a Florentine noble, and Caterina, a peasant.
The house has changed little to the one the da Vinci drew and lived in as a child.
Inside holidaymakers can learn about the landscape which inspired da Vinci's early forays into art, and look at reproductions of several drawings that represent the views of the countryside and a map of the Arno valley.
If the culture and art of da Vinci appeals, then a short drive to the da Vinci museum in the Conto Guido castle would not be a minute wasted.
A large collection of machines and models designed by the inventor along with sketches and references give holidaymakers a real insight into the genius behind the man.
Leaving the quiet and peaceful surroundings of your villa could not be more tempting than the opportunity to learn about the legend of da Vinci.
