Horse riding on a Tuscany holiday
A new article in the Guardian recommends a Tuscany holiday for people looking to try a spot of horse riding on their summer vacation.
Tourists can explore "terraced vineyards, cypress avenues and extensive woodland", it is suggested, with a long day's riding ideally broken up by a picnic in the hot Tuscan sun.
Siena was recommended for riders planning to gallop around the rolling hills of the Italian hotspot, with its historic castles named as particular highlights for intermediate and capable sportspeople.
"Gone are the days of tired old nags walking nose to tail along well-trodden paths," the article comments, suggesting that riding holidays are now contemporary and stylish.
Horse fans could plan their Tuscany holiday around the Palio, which takes place on July 2nd and again on August 16th in Siena.
