Handicrafts fair returns to Tuscany

Home to the historic towns of Pisa and Florence, the region was one of the cradles of the renaissance, producing some of the finest art, architecture and religious objects of the age.

These days, tourists on holidays to Tuscany can still take advantage of the incredible creative skills of the locals by visiting handicraft markets such as the Mostra Internazionale dell'Artigianato, which is set to take place in Florence at the end of April.

According to the Florentine newspaper, this "huge exhibition takes over the whole of the Fortezza da Basso and showcases a wide selection of artisan handicrafts at myriad market stalls".

While the most famous Tuscan artists, such as Michelangelo and Donatello may be long gone, their legacy lives on in markets such as these, to be enjoyed by generations people on holiday in Tuscany.
