Gordon Ramsay to open Tuscany restaurant

The celebrity chef will take over the Cantina restaurant at the Castel Monastero hotel in the medieval village of Monastero dell'Ombrone.

On the Gordon Ramsay website, it is confirmed that the venue will open this month and will be a great promoter of Tuscany's fine food and wine culture.

As well as a fine dining restaurant showcasing "the best in Tuscan cuisine", there will also be a wine cellar where guests can sample vintage Chianti and other produce guided by expert wine waiters.

"At Castel Monastero we will use the best produce the region has to offer, from its white truffles to its exceptional olive oil," said Ramsay.

In a recent article for the Daily Express, journalist Sue Bryant said she enjoyed indulging in the many "gastronomic delights" of Tuscany during her break there.

Holiday makers eager to do the same could rent a villa in Casciana Terme, where they can get a real taste of Italy.

The spa town is surrounded by numerous medieval villages which tourists could spend time exploring.
