Girl power hits Florence
Women in Power: Caterina and Maria de' Medici, tells the story of two Medici queens of France who used powerful images to legitimise their claims to rule over warring families and factions during a time when women in power were rare.
According to What's on When, the exhibit features 15 monumental tapestries as well as a jewellery collection and paintings to delight fortunate villa holiday makers.
The collection is not just for the art connoisseur with a distinguished palette and a penchant for Italian, as the Palazzo Strozzi has bilingual labels and special tags for families and children.
To make the exhibition even more child friendly, one of Italys leading childrens authors has created two discovery trails.
One of the trails involves a play, in which families can act out the scenes in one of the 15 tapestries.
