Giotto piece 'ready to stun on Tuscany holidays'

On June 12th, the world-renowned gallery is to open a new display paying homage to the Tuscan painter.

And the artist's masterpiece, Peruzzi Altarpiece, is being transported from the North Carolina Art Museum back to its maker's home city especially for the event, reports the Associated Press.

The five-panel piece is being readied for its journey to Italy from the US, where it has been since it was donated to the museum in 1960.

Now, museum curators are trying to figure out the best way to ensure the painting reaches its destination safely.

Bill Brown, the museum's chief conservator, told the news provider: "It's important for scholarly reason that the painting go to the Uffizi. I have to absorb all that and come up with the best solution to get the painting there safely."

Culture buffs on a Tuscany villa holiday may also be interested in the Campanile tower, which was in part designed by Giotto.
