Giotto jazz festival adds music to Tuscany's appeal

Beginning in February and lasting to the end of April, the Giotto Jazz Festival takes place in venues near to Florence and features concerts every weekend.

The main venue for the evening concerts is the Teatro Giotto in Florence and the programme of events is released gradually.

Holiday makers visiting this region of Italy will find that it not only provides them with a chance to sample some traditional Italian cuisine or enjoy the warm temperatures but it also is home to six UNESCO world heritage sites.

The capital of the region, Florence, is a protected area, as is the historical centre of Siena and the Cathedral square of Pisa.

Also on the list is the Valdorcia which runs from the hills near Siena to Monte Amiata and is full of small towns and villages and cultivated land.

Much of the landscape has inspired works from the Renaissance as well as modern photography.
