Florence to celebrate the extraordinary Galileo
Mankind's current view of the universe is shaped by the findings of the Italian scientist and a Tuscany holiday this year may be amiss without a visit to the exhibit at Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi.
Organisers claims that it will ambitiously reconstruct the history of the cosmos, which will be "illustrated dramatically from scientific instruments of exceptional beauty and ingenuity, celestial atlases, drawings, paintings, sculptures, archaeological finds and precious illuminated manuscripts".
All of these pieces have been sourced from some of the world's most prestigious museums and libraries, for the benefit of holiday makers in Tuscany to learn about the world in which they live in.
Also on display will be the sole surviving telescope of Galileo, which could be worth the trip from the villa alone.
The exhibit will be on show until August 29th 2009.
