Florence 'a Tuscany holiday essential'
Travel & Leisure magazine's annual reader survey placed the Italian metropolis in the top five cities in the world, in news that may be of interest to those considering a stay in a Tuscany villa.
Home to cultural landmarks such as the Uffizi, the Accademia and other influential and inspiring museums, Florence is on many travellers' to-do lists, with other notable attractions including the city's cathedral, the Duomo di Firenze.
People visiting the city while on a Tuscany holiday this September may be interested in the Rificolona, a festival during which children traverse through the streets carrying lanterns.
"There are street performances, parties and a final procession, led by the cardinal, with celebrations lasting into the wee hours of the morning," explains events guide Whats On When.
