Field of Miracles 'should not go unnoticed'

Although many tourists head to Pisa to see the tower, they could be missing out on a beautiful sight that offers stunning scenery and history in one harmonious setting.

Piazza del Duomo, or the Field of Miracles, can be found at the edge of the medieval town and offers breathing space and a place to relax away from the surrounding buildings, according to Behind the Tower.

"It stands apart and independent from all the other buildings surrounding it, in a beautiful contrast between the green grass and the white marble," it claims.

The site says the square is found right next to the oldest early medieval city walls, which date back to 1155 and stand "perfectly preserved" but often go unnoticed because of their more famous neighbour.

Some stunning villas can be found less than an hour away from Pisa in the tranquil and traditional Tuscan village of Ghizzano, which is a perfect choice for those who wish to relax in luxury, as well as visit the region's landmarks.
