Experience 'green oasis' on a Tuscany holiday

According to the Florence Tourist Office, the Boboli Gardens of Tuscany have a history dating back to the 16th century and were created by the famous Medici dynasty.

Boasting an array of sculptures, fountains, water features and tree-lined avenues, the gardens are ideal for "visitors looking for something beyond the Uffizi Gallery and the Basilica Santa Maria del Fiore".

Located behind the Pitti Palace, the gardens are open all year round and can be accessed by Forte Belvedere and Piazzale di Porta Romana.

Other attractions for holiday makers hoping to soak up some Italian culture include the famous Academy Gallery, the National Museum Il Bargello and the Museum of San Marco.
