Enormous white truffle discovered in Tuscany
The massive Tuscan delicacy was sniffed out by a dog who was truffle hunting with his owner, Cristiano Savini.
The dog, named Rocco, went "crazy" and had to be tied up to a tree to stop him digging furiously at the truffle and it was extracted from the ground.
It could be a new world record as the Guinness Book of World Records lists the world's largest truffle as 2.86 pounds when it was found in Croatia in 1999.
Cristiano's father, Luciano, said the truffle had been weighed in the nearby town of San Miniato and was issued with a certificate.
The truffle is expected to go on auction in Florence with the proceeds going to help an Italian organisation that helps sufferers of genetic diseases, street children in London and Catholic charities in Macau, foxnews reports.
Tuscany is famous for its truffles that are used to flavour pasta sauces, amongst other things, and food, along with culture are just a few of the many things drawing holiday makers to the region.
