Dutch art for Tuscany holiday makers
According to Radio Netherlands Worldwide, people visiting Florence on their Tuscany holiday will get the chance to visit two exhibits dedicated to paintings and drawings by Dutch artists.
Being held to mark the 50th anniversary of the Dutch University Institute for Art History, the Palazzo Pitti and the Uffizi Gallery are both integrating works from the Netherlands into their collections.
Bert W Meijer, art historian and co-creator of the two exhibitions, told the news provider: "Many Dutch painters travelled to Italy to work there, and many Dutch works of art ended up in Italian hands because they were bought in the Netherlands by Florentine bankers."
People wishing to combine a visit to Florence with a Tuscany villa break may wish to consider Volterra, which is described by Volterra.net as a town of "great architectural interest" and is situated some 1,770 feet above sea level.
