The publication consulted travel experts and conducted thorough research to come up with a series of tips for navigating the credit crunch during the summer season.
Choosing smaller cities such as Florence over expensive destination like London can yield savings in the long term, the article points out.
"Guidebooks help you know when museums don't charge an entrance fee and which parks offer the best free people-watching," the article also recommended.
A recent article in the Observer profiled fashion designer Roberto Cavalli's Tuscany villa, near which he is currently making his new wine.
The newspaper's Elizabeth Day noted the "idyllic setting" of the accommodation, which is located near Tuscany.
