Cherry festival on a Tuscany holiday
Celebrating cherries and their production, the festival is one of the main cultural events surrounding cherries and involves a large share of the local population.
It has been running since the 1950s and was originally a marketing ploy but has now developed into a traditional folklore festival for the people of Lari.
The festival usually takes place on the last Sunday of May and allows visitors to taste about 13 different varieties of cherry that grow in the area of Lari.
Local vendors provide the perfect souvenir for holiday makers including jams, liqueurs, cakes and ice creams.
In addition, travellers taking a Tuscany villa holiday will plenty of other cultural events related to food with many wine festivals occurring throughout the region.
Festivals dedicated to chocolate and truffles also occur and Tuscany is also the perfect place to work off all the delicious food with long walks through countryside.
