Celebrate Puccini on a Tuscany holiday
The Canadian Press reports that the 150th anniversary festivities in Lucca are characterised by a wealth of live opera concerts that are truly a treat for anyone taking a Tuscany holiday this summer.
Occurring between June 15th and August 17th, the Puccini Festival gives the genius behind such famous works as Madama Butterfly, Tosca and La Boheme the honour of a new 3,200-seat amphitheatre.
The maestro spent much of his life in Torre del Lago, near Lucca, which the establishment of a new sculpture garden commemorates.
"Cranking up the opera music while driving through the Italian countryside always seems like the right thing to do and this year there will be more opportunity to see opera live when Italy breaks out in song to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Giacomo Puccini," asserts the news provider.
Maureen Bomben recently wrote in the Seattle Times that a visit to Lucca gave her the opportunity to live out her lifelong dream of learning Italian.
