Candle festival lights up Pisa on a Tuscany holiday

Taking place each June, the festival is dedicated to the patron saint of Pisa, Saint Ranier and is celebrated in a very special way.

Thousands of candles are placed in the windows of buildings that line the Arno River, all around the Leaning Tower of Pisa and in the river itself.

As the light show floats down the river the festivities are finished with a show of fireworks.

One of the most memorable events for visitors to a Tuscany villa, travellers can also visit the remains of the saint which can be found in the Cathedral.

In addition, long walks in the countryside or a visit to one of Tuscany's many other cultural events are perfect ways for anyone on a Tuscany holiday to enjoy their visit.
