Autumn is 'perfect' for a Tuscany holiday

The Autumn season in Tuscany is a "great time" for food lovers as smaller villages hold markets and festivals while restaurants offer special menus celebrating the harvest, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Temperatures in October in Tuscany are usually about 20 degrees Celsius and the weather is sunny and warm, the article noted.

Local cooks compete to create the finest Tuscan dishes at the annual Abbadia San Salvatore festival, which takes place on October 11-12th 2008.

Campiglia d'Orcia, in southern Tuscany, hosts chestnut festivals on October 17-19th and October 24-26th, while white truffle festivals take place at Plazza del Popullo, San Miniato, during November.

Meanwhile Impuneta also hosts its annual Olio Novo e Gusti d'Autunno festival this month, to celebrate the region’s heritage as an extra virgin olive oil producer.
