A fortnight in Florence 'is not enough'
Jonathan Buckley of the Independent says that Florence is the region's biggest city and there is so much to see and do there that the biggest disappointment is not having enough time.
"You could spend a fortnight here and still not see every one of the masterpieces to be found in Florence's museums and churches," he says.
Mr Buckley says that the Uffizi gallery itself - Italy's most popular art collection - will take holiday makers the best part of the day to see all its transcendent beauty.
With this in mind, a hire car could be invaluable in allowing holiday makers to pop in and out of the city whenever they please and also tour the rest of the "quintessential" Italian region.
Villas in the traditional Tuscan village of Ghizzano are within comfortable driving distance of both Florence and Pisa - so the hardest thing may be fitting everything in.
