A Tuscany holiday is 'the future'
The historic and cultural city will mark the centenary of the birth of futurism with a series of special events stretching from spring through summer, according to the Florentine.
One such event that Tuscany holiday makers with a love of art may like to catch is an exhibit that showcases the Florence's publicly owned Futurist book collections at Gabinetto Vieusseux in Palazzo Corsini.
The newspaper claims that throughout the spring and summer, "futurist foods, famed local futurist Primo Conti and Futurist publications" will feature heavily in Florence.
An Italian avant-garde art movement, futurism was an influential phenomenon in the country - and futurists admired speed, technology and modernity.
This could provide a fitting backdrop to a peaceful holiday for people who are inspired by relaxing in quaint hilltop medieval towns in Tuscany that can be found off the beaten track.
