'Freewheel' in Florence
Around 26,000 happy cyclists ride around the city streets every day and officials are bringing in new measures to increase this number, the Florentine has revealed.
In an effort to create a pedalling paradise, the newspaper has previously reported that a new route has already been created along the river Arno that will unite Florence with Empoli and later Pisa and its iconic tower.
A villa in the town of Bibbona in Livorno could be the ideal base to enjoy a cycling holiday, offering both beaches and vast hills of green countryside to explore on two wheels.
Holiday makers can also ditch the wheeled device and explore the charming coastline by foot, before taking off their sandals and swimming in the nearby sea.
Bibbona is also close to Pisa, Florence and Siena so visitors can take in Italy's art and architecture as well as its countryside and coastline.
