Radicofani, Siena in Tuscany

The attractive little town of Radicofani is set amid a hilly landscape of scenic woodland and vineyards around 60 kilometres south east of Siena. Historically, the village was one of Italy’s most important strongholds, and standing a top a hill overlooking the main village is the Rocca, or castle. The spectacular views from the castle over the valley and surrounding landscape are well worth the 30 minute walk up the hill from the village centre. The pretty, Romanesque church in the village centre is another of the highlights of this picturesque town. The historic city of Siena is a great day trip from the village, whilst the neighbouring region of Umbria is also close by.
