Montalcino in Tuscany

Picturesque Montalcino is perched in a spectacular position atop a hill. Wonderful views over the surrounding landscape can be best appreciated from the castle that towers over the village. From here you can gaze over the terracotta-coloured rooftops and church bell towers towards the patchwork of undulating fields, olive groves, and woodland beyond. Montalcino is characterised by typical, Tuscan stone buildings set among a maze of little streets and passages. You will find a number of traditional shops, cafes, restaurants and gift shops here. The town is famous for its excellent Brunello wines – a bottle of which could make the ideal souvenir of your stay in Montalcino.
