Winter holiday in Turkey 'offers plenty to do'

People looking for a winter holiday destination will not be disappointed if they choose Turkey, claims an expert.

A spokeswoman for the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office says the country's landscape makes it perfect for winter pursuits such as skiing.

She adds the season runs from November to April and offers altitudes similar to those found in the Alps and American Rockies.

The expert notes Turkey has geographical advantages, with most of its snow resorts found on mountains and in "stunning" settings, in addition to "the delights of delicious Turkish food, quieter resorts and great value too being outside the eurozone".

Such praise comes shortly after Turkey was named by holiday makers responding to a Conde Nast poll as their favourite destination for a break.

Meanwhile, Ertugrul Gunay, Turkey's minister of culture and tourism, recently suggested the nation has enjoyed a highly-successful year in terms of visitor numbers.
