People heading on a Turkey villa holiday can discover for themselves why this European jewel has been named as one of the world's top ten travel destinations for 2010.
The Vancouver Sun reports that US company Gate 1 Travel have rated Turkey as number four in its picks of places that people should tick off this year, after Italy, Egypt and Greece.
The country's affordability and its array of sights are cited as the main reasons for its appeal.
"Upon arrival, visitors are enchanted by unique historical and archaeological sites, majestic mountains and valleys, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, castles, mosques and a beautiful coastline," the company is reported as stating.
Yet Turkey's allure doesn't stop there.
Holiday makers can feast on local Turkish cuisine ranging from fresh seafood to meatballs and assortments of meze dishes to share, or indulge in retail therapy at one of the many local markets or bazaars.
Visit Ephesus, once the capital of Roman Asia, and now one of the best preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean for a touch of culture and an unforgettable day out.
