Venture out to sea while on a Turkey holiday

For those embarking on a Turkey holiday, the option of discovering the region by sea could provide a unique way to visit otherwise undiscovered places.

Writing for the Telegraph, Clare Mann describes her family holiday, during which she spent time in a catamaran near Kas.

Sailing off the Lycian coast provided "unlimited freedom", she claims, as they were at liberty to go and do as they pleased.

Another bonus of the catamaran was the ease at which they could go places, stopping off for lunch at a waterside taverna much more easily than if they had travelled by car.

"We were able to return to our favourite places from previous cruises in half the time," said Ms Mann.

"It was a breeze sailing to Kas and Kekova Roads with a stopover at Karacaoren en route, to revisit the lovely family who run the taverna in the beautiful shallow bay."

Turkey is renowned for its local historic sites and bazaars, not to mention the famous Mediterranean beaches and stunning coastline.

The region also boasts a number of great restaurants serving local specialties.
