Turkey villas 'cheaper than holidays in Torquay'
Brits have been told that they could save more money by taking up holidays in villas in Turkey than opting for a stay in the UK beach hot spot of Torquay.
Research carried out by Travelex.co.uk suggested that there could be a staggering £620 difference between the two destinations, with the cheaper in favour of Turkey.
The foreign exchange organisation looked at the price of flights, accommodation, food and drink between the Devon resort and Antalya for a couple hoping for a week's getaway in early July to illustrate the results.
Peter Davies, the director of Travelex.co.uk, commented: "It's incredible to think that Brits can save money by travelling to Turkey rather than staying put on their home soil."
He added that the appeal of booking stays in Turkey is that there is a much better chance of relaxing in hot, sunny climates.
Recently, a TravelBite.co.uk writer urged those staying in Turkey villas to explore the resorts across the Mediterranean coast, as they are packed with appealing sights and attractions.
