Some reasons have been given as to why Marmaris is so appealing to Brits seeking out holiday villas in Turkey.
Jill Guest, spokeswoman for the Turkish Culture & Tourism Office, pointed out that 40 per cent of tourists from the UK who visit the country head to either this resort or the neighbouring destination of Icmeler.
She believes that one appeal of Marmaris is the fact that it sits on the Turquoise Coast, which dazzles in "outstanding natural beauty".
"Though Marmaris itself is quite built-up, it still enjoys a spectacular setting, backed by pine-clad mountains," Ms Guest added.
When it comes to things to do, those staying in Turkey villas at this resort have a wealth of restaurants to sample delicious recipes at, a nightlife scene for all ages and more that 200 stalls to entertain shopaholics.
Ms Guest's comments came soon after the release of the Post Office Cost Barometer, which saw a 13 per cent drop in prices in Turkey – the most of any of the 14 destinations in the study.
