Turkey villas: Demolishing Turkish sculptures 'unfortunate'
Brits planning on taking trips to Turkey villas have been told of the "unfortunate" decision to demolish some of the country's sculptures.
Ertugrul Gunay, the culture and tourism minister of Turkey, gave this view as a crane and cargo truck descended on the province of Kars to start the removal of the Monument to Humanity, Anatolia News Agency reported.
"I find the discussion on removing sculptures in Turkey unfortunate," he explained while on a visit to the American School in Izmir's Basmane district.
However, those who visit Kars while occupying villas in Turkey will have plenty of other scenes to explore.
The north-east location is home to the Armenian Church of the Apostles, a ninth-century Russian cathedral and the 15th-century Ottoman Stone Bridge, just to name a few highlights.
Meanwhile, the resort is also known for making some delicious butter and honey recipes, which could tickle the taste buds of British tourists.
