Turkey villa holidays 'offer great bargains'
Brits hoping to indulge in a bargain break this summer may find the best value by seeking out Turkey villas.
A study by researchers at the Post Office has found that the holiday hot spot is now the cheapest short-haul getaway outside of the eurozone.
Furthermore, Turkey is catching up with long-time leader Spain as being a favoured bargain break destination for tourists.
Some of the appeal of the holiday hot spot stems from the fact that a wealth of prices have dropped in the past year.
For example, the average cost of an early-morning coffee is down from £2.03 to £1.97, while a beer now results in £2.41 being forked out, instead of £2.49 in 2010.
Sarah Munro, head of travel at the Post Office, commented: "Turkey is back on the radar as a value destination. Prices are well down while Sterling is up four per cent."
However, parents taking up holiday villas in Turkey have recently been urged by the Health Protection Agency to get their kids vaccinated with two doses of the MMR jab before travelling to the destination.
