Turkey villa holidays 'great in autumn'
Autumn is a great time to take Turkey villa holidays, according to one travel journalist who said the weather in the country stays warm well into September and October.
In an article for the Guardian, Nicola Iseard claimed that the small harbour town of Kalkan on the Mediterranean coast is a lovely place to visit at this time of year.
She said all the shops and cafes are still open for business, but the tourist crowds have dissipated somewhat, meaning that the beaches and the major attractions will be much quieter.
According to Ms Iseard, Kalkan's small pebbly beach is an enjoyable place to spend a lazy day, although she also recommended a visit to nearby Patara Beach, which forms part of a national park and is rich in birdlife.
She also advised holiday makers to take a gulet cruise to explore the Kalkan bay and the neighbouring islands, insisting that Kekova is a must.
Families planning a Turkey holiday this autumn can rent villas in Kalkan, which is set at the foot of the Taurus Mountains and is home to some unique architecture.
Patara, with its award-winning 12-mile long beach, is just a short drive away where tourists can look out for rare birds and keep an eye out for loggerhead turtles.
