Turkey holidays 'popular among value-seeking Brits'

With many UK families looking for last minute summer breaks in great value destinations, Turkey holidays are proving popular.

According to the International Currency Exchange (ICE), large numbers of British tourists are hoping to enjoy some sunshine this autumn.

With the UK weather turning into something of a washout and the pound still weak against the euro and the dollar, Turkey is looking especially attractive.

As well as enjoying warm sunshine long into the autumn, the country also boasts a wide variety of attractions for families and couples.

"Turkey remains a safe bet for Brits abroad, as the value of the pound against the lira has steadily increased by 12.3 per cent over the past year offering fantastic value for money," said the ICE.

Andrew Hamilton, head of marketing at the organisation, said the Turkish lira made it into the top ten list of currencies ordered for the first time in August.

Those renting Turkey villas in Turgutreis on the Aegean coast will be able to enjoy the best of what the country has to offer.

Boasting several long sandy beaches and a wide selection of bars, cafes and restaurants, the resort could be the perfect setting for a relaxing late summer or autumn beach break.
