Families looking for a traditional holiday experience could consider a break in Turkey, where beautiful beaches await them.
According to a new survey by YouGov, young families are increasingly looking for traditional holiday options, with walking and cycling high on the agenda.
It showed that 91 per cent of parents with young children said their family can enjoy a holiday without theme parks and amusement arcades.
Some 77 per cent said great beaches were a major draw, while 75 per cent said they wanted to enjoy country walks or bike rides during their time away.
"Maybe it's the nostalgia factor, maybe the desire for a simpler kind of family fun, but it's clear that traditional activities like cycling, walking in the countryside and rock-pooling are rapidly regaining popularity," said Chris Elliot, director of marketing for VisitGuernsey, which commissioned the research.
Turkey, with its unspoilt coastal areas and its numerous walking opportunities, could be just the place for families seeking this type of break and hoping to enjoy plenty of sunshine at the same time.
The Mediterranean Coast could be a popular choice for sun, sea and sand-loving families to rent Turkey villas, as it is home to the picturesque Olu Deniz beach.
