Turkey holidays great for culture vultures
Those who like to soak up the local culture during their time abroad should not turn their backs on Turkey holidays.
While postcards may present images of pristine sandy beaches, the country has more to offer than just sun, sea and sand.
According to In2town magazine, Turkey has a unique culture thanks to its location between Europe and Asia.
This can be explored through theatre performances, film showings and visits to museums while in the country.
The publication states that Turkey's concerts and operas are "truly world class".
"Enchant yourself with the dazzling collaboration of western classical music infused with Ottoman music," it recommends.
Turkish films are also held in high regard among the cultural elite, it adds, with Istanbul holding its own film festival.
Museums give visitors the opportunity to really explore Turkey's rich history, taking in rare artefacts and works of art dating back thousands of years.
And if that's not enough, Turkey is brimming with Roman ruins, mosques and cave dwellings just waiting to be explored.
Those hoping to get out and about and see what the country has to offer could rent Turkey villas in Torba on the Aegean coast.
The village is home to the ruins of a Byzantine monastery, while the Temple of Apollo is also just a short ferry ride away in Didyma.
