Rent a Turkey villa to experience culture and beauty
In an article for the Telegraph, Nicky Holford said that despite its mass market appeal, many parts of the country have retained their original Turkish charm.
The writer said she stayed in a Turkey villa in Kalkan, which is a small resort and fishing village situated at the foot of the Taurus Mountains.
She said the resort is an ideal base from which to explore the country and offers a wide variety of activities, including boat trips to canoeing.
The village itself is "bursting with carpet shops, cafes and restaurants" set among its narrow alleyways and the food on offer is delicious and inexpensive.
"It's said the Ottomans introduced eating al fresco to Europe and rooftop dining overlooking the mosques, minarets and the harbour front was magical," Ms Holford wrote.
In addition, the area around Kalkan boasts some of the best beaches in Turkey, while inland visitors can find ancient ruins and tombs.
Families can rent Turkey villas in Kalkan, which is home to some unique architecture for those with an interest in the country's rich history.
