Rent a Turkey villa and do your research before you leave
The travel association ABTA is expecting Turkey to prove just as popular among UK holiday makers next year as it did this year.
With that in mind, families travelling to the country for the first time are being reminded to do a little research beforehand.
Julian Braithwaite, director of consular services at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, explained that cultures, traditions and local laws can all vary dramatically from the UK.
Looking into this prior to a Turkey holiday could therefore help travellers avoid embarrassment and misunderstandings when speaking to locals or buying goods in shops, for example.
Mr Braithwaite also recommended that families check the FCO website before travelling to keep up to date with any announcements or advice, and to ensure they have comprehensive travel insurance.
According to ABTA, Turkey was one of the few holiday destinations that welcomed more British holidaymakers into its shores this year than it did in 2009.
It is expected to prove an equally popular holiday hotspot in 2010 thanks to the great value it offers.
Turkey villas in Ovacik on Turkey's Mediterranean coast may be a good choice for families, particularly those who enjoy the beach.
The famous Olu Deniz beach, which features on the front of many a Turkey postcard, is just a 15-minute walk away.
