Radio listeners encouraged to take Turkey holidays

Regular radio listeners could be more interested in taking a Turkey villa holiday this year as a result of a new campaign that has been launched in the UK.

The Turkish Culture and Tourism Office announced that it had introduced its first ever UK commercial radio campaign this week on Magic 105.4 FM.

DJ and television presenter Mariella Frostrup provides the vocal narration for the advertisements, which also feature Turkish music.

The radio launch is part of a wider campaign designed to inform travellers of the range of experiences on offer during a Turkey holiday.

Three different adverts feature in the latest promotion.

Over 2.6 million people are expected to hear the commercials during the eight-week run, with each individual expected to listen to one of the promotions at least five times.

Irfan Onal, UK director of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office, said: "We want to challenge listeners' perceptions of Turkey and tempt them to visit it for a completely different - and affordable - experience.

"We introduce the concepts of ancient cities, arts and culture, active sports and great cuisine - all in one location."
