Over 400,000 Britons book a Turkey holiday in June

New tourist arrival statistics have revealed that Britons are still keen to book a Turkey holiday when it comes to travelling abroad.

Figures from the country's ministry of culture and tourism show that 419,674 UK residents visited Turkey in June, accounting for 11.9 per cent of all international arrivals.

The UK is the third biggest source of tourists for Turkey after Russia and Germany.

More and more Britons have been flocking to Turkey over the last few years, with 339,325 people arriving in June 2009 and 298,690 in June 2008.

Meanwhile, over one million UK residents visited Turkey in the first half of the year, the figures show.

Popular destinations for visitors to the country - including those seeking a Turkey villa holiday - are located on both the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts.

Bodrum, Torba and Bitez on the Aegean coast and Dalyan, Kaya and Kalkan on the Mediterranean coast are among the hotspots that Britons can head to, particularly when it comes to villa holidays.
