Mediterranean Turkey holidays to be popular in 2010
More people are expected to book a Turkey holiday this year, with the country likely to be one of the most popular for Mediterranean getaways.
That is according to the one expert who forecast that a greater number of Germans in particular would head to Turkey for their summer vacations, the Anatolia news agency reports.
Wybcke Meier, a member of the German Travel Association (DRV), said that despite a growing preference among Europeans for domestic holidays, trips to Turkey would remain popular.
He was quoted by the news publication as saying: "Turkey was the most profitable country in terms of the tourism sector in 2009.
"There is a ten percent increase in 2010 reservations compared to last year, which has created a significant potential."
Those taking a Turkey villa holiday on the Mediterranean coast will be able to enjoy long beaches against the imposing backdrop of the Taurus Mountains.
