Majority of holiday makers 'seek out local culture abroad'
A new study has thrown up a mixture of findings into how much holiday makers try to explore a resort that they are staying in, perhaps such as the culture around Turkey villas.
According to a study conducted by ABTA and the Travel Foundation, eight in ten tourists have said that they look to buy local produce from shops and restaurants when abroad.
Meanwhile, the same amount of respondents acknowledged that they try and visit different areas around the holiday resort that they have picked out.
However, the research also noted that around one in five holiday makers opt to stay within their complex, such as their luxury villas, throughout their stay.
Nikki White, head of destinations and sustainability at ABTA, reflected: "The quality of our holidays relies on beautiful, well-cared for environments and a warm welcome from the local community, so caring for destinations is vital."
Recently, sunshine.co.uk found in a separate piece of research that 55 per cent of Brits seek home comforts when journeying overseas, such as to villas in Turkey.
