How to make less of an impact while in villas in Turkey
Holiday makers who are planning on flying out to Turkey villas have been told how they can reduce the impact they make when in the country.
Dan Linstead, editor of Wanderlust magazine, has given some views into the negative effect that mass tourism can have on an overseas hot spot following a study by the publication.
In its annual Endangered Destinations List, the Coruh River in Turkey has been placed onto the 2011 'critical list'.
Mr Linstead acknowledged that a raft of tourists to such sites could be causing problems to its physical environment, as well as lowering its overall ambience.
Therefore, the expert advised "travelling off-peak, staying in small-scale, locally-owned accommodation, or even avoiding the 'honeypot' sites altogether, in favour of less well-known attractions".
Some of the other places that made it onto Wanderlust magazine's newest Endangered Destinations List included the US metropolis of New York and the historic Hutongs found in Beijing.
