Eastern Turkey holidays offer 'magnificent wild scenery'
Families thinking about taking a holiday this year have been urged to consider booking up a Turkey villa in the east of the country.
Diana Darke, an author for Bradt Travel Guides, believes that too many Brits are under the impression that this side of Turkey is "dangerous and out of bounds".
However, the expert noted that those who skip on this option are missing out, as the destination offers something that is in contrast to Istanbul and the more cosmopolitan half of Turkey in the west.
Ms Darke explained: "East from Ankara you enter another world of little known civilisations - the Hittites, the Urartians, the Commagenes and the Armenian Kingdom of Vaspurakan - all set in magnificent wild scenery."
The expert went on to claim that people who take Eastern Turkey holidays will have the chance to discover "the unknown face" of the nation.
Her advice comes as Bradt Travel Guides revealed the publication of its new document, covering parts of the east of Turkey.
