Britons 'show increasing demand for holidays in Turkey'
The number of people in the UK opting to take a holiday in Turkey is continuing to rise, one tourism expert has claimed.
Ozgur Ozaslan, deputy undersecretary responsible for tourism at the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, suggests Mugla is a favourite destination for those travelling from British shores.
He reveals 2010 visitor numbers are up by about 15 per cent on last year, with particular hotspots including Antalya, where a rise of 34 per cent has been recorded, as well as Izmir, which has grown by 55 per cent.
"We are experiencing an increase in demand from British tourists visiting destinations across the length and breadth of Turkey, including Izmir, Aydin, Canakkale, Bursa, Mersin, Edirne, the Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia," Mr Ozaslan says.
Such a trend may illustrate the diversity and richness of entertainment across all of the country for those on holiday in Turkey.
Respondents to a poll run by Conde Nast Traveller magazine recently named the country as the top destination for a break in the world.
